The Brighton by Valiant Armoury (Medieval Arming Sword)

In this review I’m giving you my impression of the handling, cutting performance, and durability. The blade held up remarkably well during the testing, but there was a problem with the hilt.

    3:20 That's really disappointing for a 500+ dollar sword.

A weak pommel is like having both Achilles' heel and Siegfried's back on your hands. So that every swing is surely and rightfully killing you.

Nice. I have the slightly larger brother to this sword, the Bristol. It's awesome. I haven't tested it hard, but the bit of cutting and handling I've done with it felt great.

Nowhere to review this sword but here. Just recently bought this at koa and the very tip of the sword is slightly bent (About half a centimeter). Doesn't seem to affect performance wise but its not aesthetically pleasing to look at under light. Sword is well balanced and very light. Comes paper cutting sharp out of the box. Scabbard is a nice bonus and the finish is well done. The belt is detachable which is very convenient for me. 4/5

    864 g can also be 30.5 oz.

I'm actually surprised by how close this thing is to 1.9 lb. and 30.5 oz. Are we sure they designed and manufactured it in metric?

well if you can remove the grip and pommel you can select heat treat the tang with a torch. just don't forget to normalize the metal before treating it

Well, you need the pommel to be loose though, otherwise you wouldn't be able to end them rightly.

Only time I've ever seen a tang bend or break like that is if it was too thin, or one of those half tangs with a long threaded cylindrical thin bolt-like tang.

A minor nitpick about the cutting test, plywood Is made in such a way (every other layer is rotated 90 degrees) that you're allways cutting against the grain.
