Please spread the word!

Jan 15 2010

The Haiti Volunteer Network is a volunteer effort. We need your help to spread the word to others -- so that people with skills, services and goods to offer can connect with the right people to make a difference.

Keep in mind that you do not necessarily have to travel to Haiti to volunteer. In fact, unless you are experienced in disaster and crisis response, you may unintentionally do more harm than good by traveling to Haiti right away (http://bit.ly/6M2Rje). However, Haiti will likely need skilled volunteers to help recover from this disaster in the months and years to come. There are also ways to use many of your skills (such as technology and language) from wherever you are.

This is an information exchange service only. Please create a profile to network with others and look for opportunities to help. Please only contact us directly if you have questions about the web site. We are just web developers trying to help out and are not an actual agency providing relief services or coordinating volunteers.

Volunteers Welcome

We are actively opening our doors and our hearts to those who have the faith, knowledge, skills, and energy to join our group in acheiving our dreams and visions. We also welcome any volunteers coming to Haiti in need of a safe and secure place to stay while here on their project. Our immediate needs are: a sustainable architectural plan and skilled workers to complete our temple and gardens, charity developement and fundraising assistance, and devoted Sacred Heart Space Temple caretakers.

I have extensive computer experience. My organizational skills are above par. My communication skills are on an expert level in English and Creole. I have 15 years hospital experience on the Administrative level which has developed my medical terminology, emergency medical situation knowledge which I feel would be an asset to your organization.

I would like to help assist in creating and indistructible foundation for Haiti. I know the devastation that these events have created but I have also been able to see the good. The slate has been wiped clean, we have been given a chance to start, to restart the right way. I would like to help with vocational learning. The education being given in Haitian schools right now needs to be targeted towards fields that can be utilized right now and learned in a short period of time. The focus in Haiti needs to be put towards education, self sufficiency, hard work and strategic management.
